The Future is So Bright Physical Therapists Will Have to Wear Shades!
Physical therapists are in demand big time these days as more and more “baby boomers” are reaching retirement.
With the population of the United States seeing a shift towards higher numbers of “boomers” becoming senior citizens, comes more age-related concerns including risk-for-fall, post-fall rehab and many other needs for physical therapy.
So what does this mean for students seeking a career in physical therapy?
The job outlook is fantastic. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor(1), between 2012-2022 there will be job growth of 36% in the physical therapy field. Some other quick stats:
Number of jobs in 2012: (204,200)
Additional jobs available between now and 2022: (73,500)
2012 Median Pay: $38.39
Those are some pretty decent numbers!
